The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues to advance the nation’s Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) with the deployment of its new 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐀-31 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐣𝐨 aircraft over the West Philippine Sea.
As an essential “eye in the sky,” this new air asset provides broader and faster surveillance coverage across our Exclusive Economic Zone. It enhances the PCG’s ability to detect, identify, and track activities at sea—whether friendly, suspicious, or hostile. By integrating these aerial patrols with surface operations, the PCG ensures a comprehensive maritime picture that empowers swift and decisive action.
Beyond MDA, the aircraft also supports law enforcement, environmental protection, search and rescue, and humanitarian operations. Its deployment underscores the PCG’s commitment to making our waters safer for Filipino fishermen and maritime communities who depend on the sea for their livelihood.
