Reports Claim Bottles Seized by Philippine Navy from Vessels Allegedly Test Positive for Cyanide

The 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 (NSC) has confirmed that 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 by the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐲 from 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬 in February and October last year were 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐞, a 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 known to 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 and 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 to 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 and 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬.

The substances were analyzed by the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐍𝐁𝐈), specifically its Forensic and Scientific Research Service. Results confirmed the presence of 𝐜𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 that can be 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬. According to the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨 𝐇 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐉𝐫., the laboratory findings removes any doubt as to the dangerous and unlawful nature of the Chinese activities in the West Philippine Sea.
