The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed two vessels, BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) and BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409), on 24 September 2026 to support the AFP’s Rotation and Resupply (RoRe) mission to BRP Sierra Madre (LS57) at Ayungin Shoal. Both PCG vessels were continuously shadowed by China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels while en route.
The mission was temporarily suspended after a CCG vessel carried out dangerous maneuvers against M/V Lapu-Lapu that threatened a collision although no one was injured.
The PCG calls on the CCG to stop its dangerous actions, which violate the COLREGs and disregard UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award.
