PCG Carries Out Kadiwa Operation In Bajo De Masinloc, Offers Assistance To CCG After Maritime Collision

Today, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in support of the Kadiwa Para sa Bagong Bayaning Mangingisda (KBBM) program in Bajo de Masinloc, deployed BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406), and MV Pamamalakaya to assist approximately 35 Filipino fishing boats. During the mission, PCG and BFAR vessels, as well as Filipino fisherfolk encountered hostile actions—including dangerous maneuvers, blocking, and water cannon attacks by China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels. Simultaneously, a CCG vessel (CCG 3104) pursuing BRP Suluan collided with a PLA-Navy vessel (PLA Navy ship 164), severely damaging the CCG vessel.

In response to said maritime collision, the PCG promptly offered to extend maritime assistance to the CCG ship, especially in performing man-overboard recovery or medical aid to injured CCG crew, if necessary.

Meanwhile, BRP Teresa Magbanua safely escorted the Filipino fishermen to a secure location, where they received vital fuel and supplies. The PCG remains steadfast in exercising lawful maritime operations and safeguarding the welfare of Filipinos within the West Philippine Sea.
