PCG Assures Public: No National Security Breach Despite Spy Concerns

The Philippine Coast Guard has assured the public that there is 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐦 amid concerns that the three Filipinos recently apprehended for their alleged involvement in foreign-backed spy activities 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.

According to PCG Spokesperson for the West Philipinne Sea, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐚, 𝐧𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬.

Rear Admiral Tarriela emphasized that personnel of the 𝐏𝐂𝐆 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, particularly in ongoing operations in the West Philippine Sea.
