Filipinos Distrust China, See it as the Country’s Top External Threat

Recent survey findings highlight a growing sense of caution among Filipinos toward China, particularly in the area of national security. According to an ๐‘‚๐ถ๐‘‡๐ด ๐‘…๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘โ„Ž ๐‘†๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘ฆ conducted in ๐ท๐‘’๐‘๐‘’๐‘š๐‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ 2025 a clear majority of respondents identified China as the Philippinesโ€™ primary external ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ, surpassing all other regions by a wide margin.

This view was similar across all regions, showing that the concern is shared nationwide and not limited to specific areas. Trust levels reflected these worries, as most ๐…๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐จ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ญ to trust China, while only a few had a positive view of it.

At the same time, a notable portion of respondents remained uncertain, reflecting careful consideration rather than uniformly hardened views.
