The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) jointly launched the Kadiwa ng Bagong Bayaning Mangingisda (KBBM) Program today near Bajo de Masinloc.
Through the deployment of the government fish carrier π /π© π ππ ππππππ¬π, the program enables the direct purchase of fresh catch from Filipino fisherfolk at seaβwhile also providing much-needed ice and fuel subsidies. This innovative effort reduces logistical burdens and empowers our mangingisdang bayani to fish farther and more confidently in our traditional fishing grounds.
By bringing market access closer to the fishing grounds, the KBBM Program improves livelihood, promotes equitable economic opportunities, and reinforces our maritime presence in the West Philippine Sea.
According to Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, this joint initiative with BFAR uplifts the welfare of modern-day fishing heroes while advancing national food security.
