Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya, speaking at the 1st Quarter National Maritime Council Press Briefing, reaffirmed the government’s strong stance against foreign-backed disinformation efforts. In support of the National Maritime Council’s mission, ADG Malaya highlighted the ongoing investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
into alleged influence operations involving a Makati-based PR firm reportedly linked to the Chinese embassy.
He explained that the NBI is examining contracts and financial transactions believed to be part of a coordinated disinformation network.ADG Malaya stressed that this investigation is part of the government’s broader effort to protect national sovereignty and uphold security across all fronts.
His statement reflects the administration’s whole-of-government approach in countering hybrid threats, reinforcing the Council’s role in safeguarding the nation’s maritime and information domains.
