PCG Palawan Recovers Suspected Rocket Debris Near Brgy. Funda Bisucay Island, Cuyo, Palawan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recovered suspected rocket debris found by a local fisherman in the waters near Brgy. Funda Bisucay Island, Cuyo, Palawan. Preliminary assessments suggest that the materials are linked to a recent launch from China’s Long March rocket program.

This incident follows China’s rocket launch on September 16, 2025, which involved a Long March 2C rocket with a Yuanzheng-1S upper stage. The mission, conducted from an undisclosed location, is part of China’s ongoing efforts in space exploration, including satellite deployment and technological advancements.

Upon discovering the debris, Brgy. Captain Alena Lagan Macaslin promptly informed the Coast Guard Station Eastern Palawan. In collaboration with local authorities, the area has been secured to ensure public safety and facilitate proper handling of the materials.

The debris has been officially transferred to the Coast Guard District Palawan for safekeeping. The PCG will later send the items to the Philippine Space Agency for detailed analysis, verification, and assessment of their origin and composition.

The CG District Commander, Commodore Neil Azcuna urges the Palaweños to remain vigilant and report any sightings of suspected rocket debris to the nearest Coast Guard station, barangay officials, or relevant authorities. They were advised not to handle or move such materials due to potential safety hazards.
