Partnership in Action: PCG West Philippine Sea Transparency Group and National Library of the Philippines Fostering Unity and Learning through the Book Picnic at Lakas High School, Zambales

The National Library of the Philippines successfully organized the 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐍𝐈𝐂 in celebration of the 35𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 (𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐌) on November 22, 2025, at 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 in 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. The event was made possible through strong collaboration with the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝–𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 (𝐏𝐂𝐆–𝐖𝐏𝐒𝐓𝐆) and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 101, underscoring this year’s LISM theme of “𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐔𝐏 – 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐀 𝐇𝐮𝐛 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩.”

The program began with a warm welcome message from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐨 “𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐠” 𝐉𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧, Chairman of LAKAS, followed by an inspiring opening message from 𝐃𝐢𝐫. 𝐂𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐐. 𝐀𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨 of the National Library of the Philippines.

Messages of support were also delivered by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨, President of the Inner Wheel Club of Manila 101, and 𝐂𝐃𝐑 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐢ñ𝐚 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚, PCG, Chief of Staff of the PCG-WPSTG—both reinforcing the spirit of unity through partnership that guided the entire event.

The BOOK PICNIC featured 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰, which captivated and inspired the students of Lakas High School. The young participants eagerly took part in discussions, asked questions, and interacted enthusiastically with the performers, making the activities both educational and entertaining.

Through the shared efforts of all partner organizations, the event successfully promoted creativity, imagination, cultural appreciation, and most importantly, a strengthened love for reading. It also exemplified how unity through partnership can create meaningful learning experiences and foster stronger community spirit.
