𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐚 said on Monday that the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 to address the issue in the 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚.
This follows 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐨𝐲𝐬 that were discovered in the lagoon of 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜, also known as the Scarborough Shoal.
“As the NTF-WPS stated, anything that violates UNCLOS and undermines our sovereignty and sovereign rights is always a concern of the national government,” Rear Admiral Tarriela said.
The 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 (𝐃𝐅𝐀) has previously 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚’𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 in Bajo de Masinloc and has called on Beijing to 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 placed in the area.
