LOOK: The floating structure later confirmed by authorities monitored inside the lagoon of Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal)

The structure was monitored during a Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flight conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on May 26, 2026.

PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Rear Admiral Jay Tarriela, said that two Chinese research vessels were monitored in the area before the movable structure was sighted.
