2 Years On: China Still Holds PH Firearms and Military Equipment Seized at Ayungin Shoal

The Philippines continues to seek compensation for damaged and lost military assets two years after the West Philippine Sea incident on ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž 17, 2024.

During the incident, Chinese Coast Guard personnel forcibly blocked and boarded Philippine rigid-hull inflatable boats conducting a ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ฒ (RORE) mission for troops stationed aboard ๐๐‘๐ ๐’๐ข๐ž๐ซ๐ซ๐š ๐Œ๐š๐๐ซ๐ž. A Philippine Navy Special Operations Group member sustained a severe injury that resulted in the loss of his right thumb.

The Department of Foreign Affairs lodged several diplomatic protests regarding the incident and has already submitted all necessary documents to support the countryโ€™s compensation claim; however, two years on, ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐š ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐๐ž๐.
