Chinese Research Vessel Seen Towing a Floating Structure at Bajo de Masinloc

A ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ, ๐˜๐”๐„ ๐™๐‡๐€๐ ๐˜๐” ๐Š๐„ 6, was observed ๐ญ๐จ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐จ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ that was detected through satellite imagery on May 25 and confirmed by the PCG through a Maritime Domain Awareness flight on May 26 back into Bajo de Masinloc through the southeast entrance, during a maritime domain awareness (MDA) flight conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on June 15, 2026.

According to ๐‘๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐€๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐‰๐š๐ฒ ๐“๐š๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐š, a ๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ž ๐›๐จ๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฑ ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ž๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ after the vessel re-entered the shoal.

Moreover, by the time the aircraft departed, the floating platform remained at the vesselโ€™s aft, with ๐˜๐”๐„ ๐—๐ˆ๐€ ๐˜๐” ๐™๐‡๐ˆ 20028 positioned alongside.

๐‘๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐€๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐š๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐š said the ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐ž๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐š๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ฌ๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก in the area.

During the same patrol, a ๐๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐žโ€™๐ฌ ๐‹๐ข๐›๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐€๐ซ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ฏ๐ฒ (๐๐‹๐€-๐) ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ repeatedly ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ž๐ ๐ซ๐š๐๐ข๐จ ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฌ to the BFAR aircraft, while ๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐š ๐‚๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ๐†๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ and ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐š ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ outside the shoal.
